Pomegranate Soup a Life-changing Novel

I recently received the following email, and I am posting it in the memory of Marsha, and thank you Mr. Economos for sharing your experience.

“Dear Mr. Mehran,
My name is John Economos and my daughter reached out to you regarding Marsha. My apologies for taking so long to get back to you.
I would first like to offer my deepest condolences to you and your family regarding the tragic loss of your daughter. I can only imagine the heartache. She was a talented writer who inspired us all.
I am retired now but I was a former Assistant Principal of an Alternative School in New York City. I used your daughter’s novel POMEGRANTE SOUP as a book of the month in our program for troubled youth.
The novel was an inspiration to many of our students in our program. Prior to reading POMEGRANATE SOUP, many of our students did not pick up a book to read. However, after ordering class sets of Marsha’s novel and distributing it to the students, their lives were transformed. We held book discussions and had talks about dreams and following them in life. Ms. Mehran was quite an inspiration to all of our students. I never met your daughter but spoke to her on the phone regarding her novel. At the time, she was in Ireland working on her visa. She was a delight to chat to and offered great suggestions on how to hook the students into reading her works of fiction.
It was an honor to know her and share her work with students and staff.
I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and again my deepest condolences on the loss of your daughter.”
